Isn't life great? I figured you might all want an update. Jack's growing so much, he talks all the time and learns more every day. If we ask him where the baby is, he points to my belly. So fun
Last week was my 36 week appointment, i was checked and was dialated to a 3 and 70% effaced. For a couple of days there we really thought she was on her way here, now i think she's content to be in there for a little while longer. John asked me today when i thought she was coming and honestly, i have no idea, sometime before February i hope. We are very excited to meet her, and i'm very excited to not be pregnant any more :)
I've been thinking about New Year's Resolutions lately and i have plenty of them. But one thing that i really want to do is prepare dinner every night and eat together. I've been a huge slacker in this area and i believe its costing us more money because many times we just end up going out....especially while i'm pregnant, but i think its time to be a good mom and wife and make dinner a priority :) So, if anybody has had success at this i'd love some advice! My hardest part is coming up with something to make. I want to plan ahead, be prepared with meals and have lots and lots of ideas.... Anyway, that may be the only goal i'll share...maybe not but for now, i think i better go make sure i'm fulfilling the rest of my New Years Resolutions! Happy New Year!

check out thefoodnanny.com
it's my grandma's daughter and her ideas are so fun! She has a cookbook: The food nanny rescues dinner with all her recipes in it....anyway, just some help?!?!?
That's been one of my goals ... continually a work in progress. But we're definitely getting better and more consistent, so don't get discouraged.
One thing that definitely works for us is making a monthly menu. We sit down with our cookbooks and a blank calendar and write dinner plans for every day. It takes a while and it can be frustrating, but I love having it all written out. Then I come home and already have dinner plans rather than spend half an hour debating about what to make. We then do our grocery shopping once every two weeks (or once a month if we can make it) and cut down on the money we spend at the store. This way we have the ingredients and the plan - then we just have to find the motivation! (Cleaning up afterwards is actually the hardest part for me ...)
Hope that helps. Good luck! And we miss having you guys as neighbors.
that is cool, tara! i was gonna suggest the food nanny too. my mom started using it when i lived with her. she's got quite the system and her recipes are easy and way yummy! i love this goal. good luck!
Sounds like a great resolution. I recently read this article http://lds.org/ensign/2005/12/powerful-nurturing?lang=eng and it renewed my desire to make dinner time a priority. If that link/address doesn't work, let me know.
i am with you on the dinner thing! one thing i've found that really, really helps, is i make a menu for the entire month. start by making a list of all the foods you love, and then just thrown them on the menu. you don't have to cook what it says every day if you're not in teh mood, but at least it's there as an idea. i do all my grocery shopping at the beginning of the month, and then i go weekly for milk, produce, bread, whatever. it is so nice to just look at hte calendar and plan for dinner that night and not have to worry! i also try to look at recipe blogs so that i can get some new ideas. i try to try new things at least once a month, but i'm setting a goal to be better about trying new stuff more often. anyway, hope this helps!
We will talk about this at lunch tomorrow and get you a game plan.
