Fun fun

Golf Tournaments, they are fun though! Especially when john wins money...
We had a good time last Saturday, John's cousin Golden and his wife Jess came down for this archery shoot and Casey Carver and his wife Becca came with us too. It was fun and they all did pretty well, Golden and Jess came over for lunch and then joined us for our ward party cookout and clay pigeon shoot. It was a lot of fun and these are just some pictures.

And next time we blog.... IT'LL BE ABOUT DISNEY LAND!!!!

Our Cheering Squad

We Did it!

Well, Our Triathalon was a blast!! Peter first started with the 5K, then John took off on the 12 mile bike ride and then i started the 1/2 mile swim! It was so fun and we actually all did really well. Peter hasn't ran in 6 months and was able to place 4th with 23 minutes, then John hasn't riden a bike since before his mission and was able to pass a guy and got into 3rd place with just under 50 min's and then i went and finished in only 22 minutes and we ended up taking fourth place overall, but only 36 sec's behind 3rd place. It was so fun and i was amazed at how well it all went. This past week john and i made an attempt to swim Mon and Wed at 5:30 in the morning and we did but it took us 35-40 minutes just to swim the 18 laps (1 /2 mile) but yesterday at the triathalon i did it in only 22 minutes! We were all pretty happy with how things went and can't wait to do it again! We made a good team, and to just think if we'd of all trained a little for it...

I am Emma Woodhouse!

Take the Quiz here!

Book Tag
Bridget tagged me
(I just barely noticed, sorry)
Here are the Rules
1. Pick up the nearest book (at least 123 pages)
2.Turn to page 123
3. Find the fith sentence
4. Post it
5. Tag 5 people

The book that was the closest was "The Traveler's Gift" by Andy Andrews (a great book by the way) Anyway, i dont' think the fifth sentence on pg 123 could of been more enlightening

"You will find that God rarely uses a person whose main concern is what others are thinking."

I tag Angela, Anna, Brittany Mason, AuBrie and i can't think of another one i haven't already heard, sorry!

We just saved a ton of money on car insurance by switching to GIECO...

Well, thats Johns favorite line these days because we really did! I don't know about how much money we'll be saving seeing how me and john has both never had our own car insurance but we really did it! We're becoming more and more independent every day and its fun. Also, john and i were talking the other day and we decided that we really want to go on a family vacation this summer, so as we were talking we decided to go to DISNEY LAND! I'm beyond excited, i just can't wait, thats seriously all i've been thinking about, so we're actually thinking we're going to go in less than a month! Because John gets out of school at the end of this month and we just figured we might as well go before it gets too crazy! John's never been and we're both super duper excited!

This past week, john and i have starting swimming laps in the early morning. I loved my triathalon las summer so we figured it'd be fun to do it again this summer, but this time together. Anyway, we're been swimming half a mile, Mon, Wed, Fri and it's been a killer for both of us! Well, we found out about this triathalon thats actually in Ephraim tomorrow so we're going to do it! But we're going to cheat, we decided instead of doing it all ourselves we're going to enter as a team, Peter's going to start us off running the 5k, John will bike the 14 miles and then i'll finish us off with a 1/2 mile swim. I'm pretty excited but also already nervous, i'll let you know how it goes...

Life can be tough but we know who's in charge.

Well, for many of you, you already have heard the news but for those that haven't, i'll let you know. It's easier for us if people know instead having to tell them so i'll just get the word out. On Tuesday was my first prenatal appointment with Dr. Frischnechkt. John and i were both excited and he was able to come with me. Everything was going well and John really wanted to hear the heartbeat so he asked the Dr. if we could. He got all of his equipment out but had a really hard time finding the heartbeat, he sent us to the ultrasound room so he could locate the baby and then tried it again but still no heart beat. He was a little concerned because usually, even with his old ultrasound machine he can see a flashing on the baby where the heart should be beating but there was nothing there. He was concerned enough to send us to the Mt Pleasant hospital to get a real ultrasound. In Mt Pleasant it was confirmed that there was no heart beat and that the baby was no longer living. I should of been 12 weeks on Tuesday but the baby only measured at 10 weeks and 3 days. Now we're waiting to miscarry, not knowing when that might be but knowing its coming. It was hard news for both me and John, we were both very excited to be starting our own family, and for the first time since being pregnant, while looking at the ultrasound screen i actually knew that something was in there, while almost at the same time we heard the news. It has been a rough couple days but the more people try to help the more i realize that others have been through so much more than we have, i know the Lord knows what he's doing, we know that everything happens for a reason and that its no accident. I don't know these reasons and honestly, i don't know much but i do that because of this experience John and I have grown so much closer together and i know that i couldn't have asked for a better husband and friend than the one I've been so blessed to have. John really is my strength and comfort and I'm so, so grateful for him. I also want to say thanks to all of you that have been so thoughtful and caring towards us, we love you.

Just thinking...

So today was general conference, John and i listened to the morning session (being as we have not TV) and it was really good, it was just what we needed to hear, it talked a lot about families and raising kids, and keeping your heart pure. After listening to conference i just can't help but be so grateful for what we have, its incredible if you think about it, we've got leaders that speak with God here on the earth today, they, through personal revelation teach us the things that we all need to hear. We have a prophet that lives, that loves and cares about each of us and we have so many other people, that sit around TV's and Radio's just like us to hear what we can learn from these incredible people. Its really neat and i just think we're so, so blessed. Anyway, John was able to go to the Priesthood session of conference tonight with his brother and brother-in-law and they were excited about that, and john called to let me know that he has found the bow of his dreams and was able to buy it today on the way up. We're excited about that. Well, i'm excited to be able to watch the rest of conference and i especially can't wait to get the Ensign with all the talks. Life is good.

Goodbye bike, hello Bow...

John's just been putting the finishing touches on his bike because this afternoon, we're headed to Nephi to drop it off to the new owner... I'm sad it going to be gone, i love that bike, we've had some good times on it, and i'm going to miss it a lot. Lol, oh geez, i'm making it sound like part of the family! I guess i better just stop.

This was my first success in dough making since we were married. My mom asked me to make rolls for Easter dinner and the turned out more like biscuts, no raising and almost as hard as rocks. They ate them anyway, but they really weren't so good. But in this pictures i made homemade pizza and it worked out great! Tasted great too. John and i both were pretty excited!
John played in the Ice Breaker tournament up at Palisades State park and he did really well, this was just after he shot an "eagle" (2 under par), and he won some money for it ($30), it was pretty exciting and needless to say, John was happy! (it only cost $26 to play in the tournament so we got an increase ;)
A couple weekends ago John went to the Henry's with one of his friends to find sheds, and they did a pretty good job, these are all the horns John found, and Tom found about 15 more i think. They had fun but i was sure happy to finally have John home again... our first night apart since the wedding... it was weird. I guess i had fun though, Mom, natalie and Emily and I had a girls night, ate chinese food and watched Sydney White. It was fun.

I'll have you all know i've been sitting here waiting for half an our for my pictures to download so that i could finally catchup on our blog but the stupid thing won't work. Anyway, we did finally get all of our wedding pictures and we love them. They turned out really cute and we're so happy to finally have them. Spring break was last week so John and i took work off on Monday and went up to Murray for a few days, It was fun and just good to be away together without worries. It was fun. In our ward they moved me from teaching Family Relations to teaching Gospel Doctrine.... thats going to be a challenge and i teach for my first time this Sunday. Chloe did have her puppies and they're adorable, we're so exciting to have a "puppy" or our won around October 21.... (insert from my sweet husband)

I started reading the Uglies series a couple weeks ago and i haven't been able to put it down since. I'm almost finished with the Specials, not because i love it so much but because i'm so mad and i just have to figure our how its possibly going to all turn out okay. In the mean time John's going crazy and wishing i'd just get it over with. So i guess i'll go work on it...Anyway, i'll try the pictures one more time but if it does work, we're out of luck, sorry.

Just another day at the Van O's.

Well, today was a good day. This morning i got to sleep in, and then cleaned some. John got home around 10:30 and we decided we'd try to hit the 11:30 session at the temple. Just as we were getting ready to walk out the door, John realized he didn't have his wallet. so we looked and looked and couldn't find it anywhere. We thought maybe we'd left it at the Swimming Pool, so we called over there, and they said they didn't have it. Well, John decided that the only place it would be is in his pants pocket from a few days ago... I had to break the news that those pants had just gotten thrown in the wash. Well he ran over to my parents and checked and sure enough, his wallet was getting a cleaning as well. I think we managed to save most everything important and made it to the temple still on time. Anyway, we got home and i wasn't feeling that great so John told me to go lay down and he'd make me lunch. He's so good to me and made me a great lunch of macaroni-b. I sure love him. Anyway, it was good to spend sometime with John since he had class at 2:30 and won't be back until after bishopric meetings tonight, probably sometime around ten. I love him so much and am so grateful for a wonderful husband! WAHOO!
