So, John and i like always, are looking for more ways to make money, our close to minimum jobs just aren't cutting it anymore so we're looking at our options. Since i'm having a baby and all :) i'm most likely not going to be hired by anyone temporarily so i've been tossing around the idea of selling something, you know, like those annoying parties you go to and just feel so obligated to get something.... not so intriguing but i figure, if i could sell something that people want and are in need of then it wouldn't be so annoying. Here's a list of the parties i've been to lately:
Lia Sophia (jewelery)
Sentsy (you know, the smell good cool stuff)
Pampered Chef
Mary Kay
I think thats it but then there's:
Tupperware
shoot, i really can't think of any others but anyway, i'm throwing out the Lia Sophia (i'm not really a jewelry person and i don't think most people would consider that expensive stuff a priority) Other than that, i'm taking a little survey, what would you readers out there most likely buy from anyone that was selling any of these items (or any others you can think of)? I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd leave a comment and let me know! If any of you have strong opinions about this idea, give me a call, i'd love to talk. Thanks everyone!

I think I would be most interested in those layer shirt things. Aren't there a lot of different companies that make those? just under shirts, or longer shirts. Hey! Paul Dyreng said he tried to convince John to come do the forest service again this summer! You should! Then you won't be half way across the country when your ready to have your baby!
I would probably go for the shirts first too, but I know that Scentsy is really popular right now, so that might be a good choice. I have a friend who does it and loves it. I almost bought one, but didn't (poor grad students :)
i like the idea of the shirts. my mom went to a shoe party last summer at tricia cox's (i think) and said it was super fun and had some great shoes they were selling. i think that'd be popular with girls like us! my mom - or tricia would be able to guide you better than me.
So thanks for all of the comments about the shirts, but everytime i look it up i can't find that Layer's company on the internet, i don't know if they still do it, if anyone has any help with that, let me know. Thanks!
Of course we all like the layered shirts....But I love Scentsy too and I buy from someone here...She could sign you up...or I would just stop buying from her and buy from YOU!!!
Modbe, the modest swimsuit company, sells layered shirts and other modest apparel. I've been to a party so I know they sell them that way. Scentsy is cool, but they have started showing up in the stores (a knock-off, of course) so i don't know how well they are selling now. I have like 3 different Scentsy ladies, but I'd be willing to leave them ALL for you!! :) Although, I think the idea of tupperware sounds good to me. You just don't meet many tupperware ladies these days. Also, there is a childrens book company that does parties. Since you and your friends (and family) are all starting out or have little families, it might be a good and fun idea.
Oh, and I just read somewhere today that an employer cannot NOT hire you because you are pregnant. And, you don't have to tell them you are pregnant until 30 days before you are due! hahaha I could never hide it that long, and I know you want to be upfront and honest, but they can't turn you down for that reason alone. Or you could work for JetBlue. You can do reservations from home! Oh, so many options. Good Luck with that!
Hi Elise,
I don't know anything about the shirt idea...sounds good. But I like Pampered Chef...I want to buy some stuff but don't know anybody. I've seen their stuff and LOVE it. My cousin is doing a scentsy party soon (which I'll go to) but I don't know ANYTHING about those yet. Good luck. All are good choices...
Oh, and I see your baby is looking like John! Maybe you can take extra Pre-natals to help with that! :) So excited for you guys!
Hey check into Jet blue but maybe later because they have to spend money getting you set up. Just don't spend a lot of money to get started because you have to recover that expense. Maybe just enjoy this time and make things for your baby. It sounds like you need a visit from us. When start walking again, maybe we can come up. Love you.
My sister in law sells Usborne books. They are awesome and they have reasonable prices so people usually buy at least one or two.
They are really cool books, and they are well made. I'm not sure how much it costs to get started or whatever, but I know this would be something people would buy, they makes great gifts and mom and grandmas really tend to get excited about them. It's just a great way to get kids reading again instead of just watching TV and they have every genre you can think of, from lullabies and fairy tales to science books and activity/cook books. Anyway, here's the website so you can look into it. http://www.usborne.com/default.asp?css=1
